Who Should Certify?

The Six Sigma Green Belt certification is intended for professionals who:

  • Operate in support of or under the supervision of a Six Sigma Black Belt.

  • Analyze and solve quality problems.

  • Are involved in quality improvement projects.

Candidates should have at least three years of relevant work experience and aim to demonstrate their knowledge of Six Sigma tools and processes.

 

Requirements

  • Experience: At least 3 years of on-the-job experience in one or more areas of the Six Sigma Green Belt Body of Knowledge.

  • Education: No educational waivers are granted for this exam.

 

Prepare for the Exam

  • Review References: Study a list of references that form the basis for exam questions. ASQ provides various books and training opportunities to aid in preparation.

 

Examination Details

  • Computer-Based Testing (CBT):

    • Format: One-part, 110-question exam (100 scored, 10 unscored).

    • Duration: Total appointment time is 4.5 hours; exam time is 4 hours and 18 minutes.

    • Language: Offered in English only.

  • Paper and Pencil Testing (PBT):

    • Format: One-part, 100-question exam.

    • Duration: 4 hours.

    • Language: Available in Mandarin at certain locations. Check available translated exams, dates, and locations.

  • Open Book: Reference materials are allowed. Candidates must bring their own materials and calculators.

  • Delivery Options: Includes online, remote proctored examinations. More details are available on the computer-based testing page.

 

What Happens if I Pass/Fail?

  • PASS:

    • CBT: Immediate results after completing the exam. Confirmation and digital certificate details will be emailed within 3-5 business days. Digital credentials are managed through Accredible.

  • FAIL:

    • CBT: Summary of performance will be emailed within 3-5 business days. You can retake the exam at a reduced rate within 2 years from the initial attempt. Results for paper-based tests will be slightly delayed.

 

Policies and Procedures

  • Identification Policy: Present a valid, government-issued photo ID with a signature (e.g., driver’s license or passport) that matches the name on your application.

  • Calculator Policy: Use of calculators is allowed as specified in the FAQs.

  • Arrival Time: Ensure timely arrival as per test center policies.

  • Absences, Cancellations, Reschedules: Follow guidelines provided in the FAQs for handling absences or rescheduling.

  • Prohibited Items: Personal belongings must be stored in a temporary locker at the test center.

 

Application Process & Timeline

  1. Submit Your Application:

    • Online applications are reviewed within 1-2 business days; hardcopy applications within 3-5 business days.

  2. ASQ Review:

    • Receive approval notification or a “hold” message. If requirements are not met, a refund (minus a $130 processing fee) will be issued.

  3. Testing Options:

    • CBT: Receive an eligibility email with scheduling instructions 1-2 business days after approval.

    • PBT: Receive a seating letter with exam details approximately 2 weeks before the exam date.

  4. Schedule Your Exam with Prometric:

    • Book your exam appointment within the chosen testing window.
